With many people visiting the Dhofar area during the Khareef season due to its cool winds and beautiful green scenery, Rakhyut is definitely a place they should see while in the southern governorate of Oman. Rakhyut’s Wilayat is located in the Dhofar Governorate’s western part. “It’s one of the Sultanate’s major tourist attractions. Thanks to its historical heritage, geographical and environmental diversity, a destination frequented by many visitors, Rakhyut is positioned in the heart of the tourist map.
Rakhyut is an open museum for researchers and a quiet corner for lovers of natural beauty and a popular destination for those tempted to ride the sea and mountain climbing, campers and desert explorers, “says the Information Ministry.” There are more than 25 water springs in Rakhyut’s Wilayat, including A’alqot, Hiak, Neharat, Meshdid, Khidol, Nathdor, and Safar, “the ministry added.
Oman’s Tourism Ministry adds, “While Dhofar is more than 1,000 kilometres from Muscat‘s capital city, it is easy to plan a trip with daily flights from Muscat to Salalah and direct connexions from other Arab Gulf states. Those with some spare time may also choose to drive the coastal road to Salalah, crossing Al Wusta and seeing some of the most remote and amazing beaches in Oman. “When most of the Arabian Peninsula experiences high temperatures in the summer months, Dhofar ushers in the monsoon season, carrying lush greenery, cool rain and nice temperatures.”
