According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, the number of people who visited Wadi Bani Khalid of North Al-Sharqiyah Governorate rose to 220,230 in 2019. This is due to the tourism potential of the wilayat like water pools, which see a year-round influx of tourists. They come here to enjoy swimming and other activities on hiking.
Statistics indicate the number of Omani visitors to the water pools reached about 65,476 during 2019. Among other nationals from the UAE, the Emiratis are the largest number who visit such pools of water. During this time the number of Emiratis who came here was 171, followed by 161 Bahrainis.
Many Arab nationals who had entered Wadi Bani Khalid were 7,245. There were roughly 88,662 European tourists who came here during this time. In 2019 there were 54,634 Asians and 3,688 American tourists visiting the Wadi Bani Khalid, Oman.
Talal Al-Shuaibi, Director of Tourism in North Al-Sharqiyah governorate, said, “The water pools are one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Wadi Bani Khalid. Tourists from various nationalities come here throughout the year to enjoy the beautiful and varied nature of the wilayat and spend an enjoyable time.
Last year, the tourism activities conducted at the wilayat played a major role in attracting large numbers of tourists to the water pools district. The wilayat has many other attributes that aid in the tourist movement throughout the year. One of the major attractions is the constantly flowing wadis. These wadis flow from the narrow passes of the eastern Hajar Mountains on the southern side.
