Oman Air and Air Italy have entered into a codeshare partnership to provide customers with enhanced connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and seven major destinations in Italy. Under the agreement, the IG code of Air Italy will be placed on flights between Milan Malpensa and Muscat from Oman Air. At the same time, Oman Air will place its “WY” code on flights from Milan Malpensa to Rome Fiumicino, Naples, Cagliari (Sardinia), Palermo and Catania (Sicily) and Lamezia Terme (Calabria) between Air Italy.
Furthermore, the code of Oman Air will be added to the Milan-New York and Milan-Miami flights of Air Italy as a next step, subject to the necessary government approvals. Abdulaziz Al Raisi, CEO of Oman Air, said: “We are proud and happy with our new Air Italy alliance. This codeshare agreement will make visiting our beautiful country of Oman so much easier for travellers from all over Italy. We look forward to welcoming tourists coming to our country from all major Italian cities to experience our renowned Omani hospitality.
“This alliance with Air Italy for our airline is also an important development. This marks the entry of Oman Air into North America with these codeshares providing connexions to Oman Air customers via their Milan hub airport on Air Italy flights to New York and Miami. For our airline, this is an exciting achievement, and we look forward to increasing our global coverage in the coming months, “he added.
We are extremely proud of this new codeshare as it once again demonstrates our commitment to offering our passengers an ever-expanding network and great connectivity. I am also certain that this stage of the partnership with Oman Air is only the first move and we will continue to look for more travel opportunities for both airlines ‘ customers as and when opportunities arise, including on our flights to the US, “said Rossen Dimitrov, Chief Operating Officer of Air Italy. Tickets for the Italy–Oman routes under the codeshare agreement are available for purchase.
