In an attempt to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus, the Oman News Agency (ONA) announced on Thursday(12 March 2020) the Sultanate of Oman suspended tourist visas for travelers from all countries.
According to ONA, the decision to suspend tourist visas came after a supreme committee meeting with interior minister Hamoud bin Faisal al-Busaidi. The committee was formed under the orders of Oman‘s sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said to deal with the outbreak in the region.
All non-classroom athletic events and practices will also be discontinued.
Cruise ships, ONA said, will also be barred from docking in ports in Oman.
Restaurants, coffee shops, and lounges are prohibited to sell shisha, the study said.
The Committee instructed residents and people not to fly abroad, and to take precautionary measures during large group meetings.
